## About
We only ended up at Swadlincote Woodlands Nature Reserve because Just for Pets was five minutes down the road and Murphy clocked the trees from the car park window. One mile, thirty minutes on the clock — though most of that was spent stationary while he worked through the sniff list.

It's tucked right on the edge of Swadlincote, which makes it a genuinely useful one to have up your sleeve — not a big day-out walk, more a 'the dog needs a proper leg stretch and I've got twenty minutes' walk. The paths are a mix of tarmac and gravel with a few muddy patches here and there, but they're easy enough to sidestep if you're bothered about clean paws. There's a short, slightly steep stretch right at the start near the car park, then it flattens out for the rest of the loop — nothing that felt like hard work, though there are tree roots across some of the woodland sections worth keeping an eye on underfoot.

Dogs need to be kept on leads throughout, and on a Saturday afternoon we saw a fair few people about but didn't pass a single other dog — properly quiet, no on-lead greeting scrums to navigate.

Parking is free and plentiful, the car park's open 8am to dusk, and the routes are well signposted so there's no chance of getting turned around even with the paths winding through the trees. Poo bins are dotted along the way, there are benches if you fancy sitting and watching Murphy contemplate a root system, and there's a children's play area near the entrance if you've got small humans in tow as well as the dog.
