## About
We went to Staunton Harold on a recommendation — and it absolutely delivered 🦋

The walk covers Bignalls Wood and Jaguar Lount Wood, and the variety is brilliant. Long grass meadows that felt very 'running through fields in a period drama', established woodland with a proper stream running through, and a mix of gravel paths and muddy tracks that kept things interesting.

What we weren't expecting: the sheer number of butterflies. Everywhere. Murphy was absolutely mesmerised — darting after them with this confused mixture of curiosity and mild panic, like he couldn't decide if they were friends or things to chase 🦋🐶

I was quietly hoping for a Disney moment where one would land on his nose. It did not happen. Murphy's approach to wildlife is more 'chaotic enthusiasm' than 'Snow White energy', so perhaps that's fair.

The stream was a highlight — shallow enough to splash through safely, and Murphy made the most of it. There's something about a dog in a stream that just feels right, especially on a warm day.

Parking is £3 on weekends and bank holidays, with plenty of spaces. The entrance to the woods is directly opposite the car park, so you're straight into it — no faffing about trying to find the start.

The paths are a mixture of gravel (easy) and muddy woodland tracks (less easy if it's been wet, but manageable). We did just short of 2.5 miles in just over an hour, which felt like a really nice pace — enough time to explore properly without it turning into an expedition.

It's the kind of walk that keeps you both engaged. Murphy had his butterflies and stream. I had the meadows, the woodland, and the quiet satisfaction of a recommendation that actually lived up to the hype.

Definitely one to revisit 🐾

## Murphy's Verdict
*Reviewed by Murphy, Cavapoo and chief sniff tester at Murphy & Me — The Dog Edit*
> "Butterflies everywhere. A stream that welcomed me with open water. Long grass that felt very important to investigate thoroughly. Mum kept hoping a butterfly would land on my nose for a 'moment' — I was far too busy chasing them to sit still for that kind of nonsense. Excellent variety, would absolutely come back 🐾"
