🐾 When I think of secret finds, I think of this place. Tucked away at the back of a business park in Appleby Magna, you'd probably never know The Cutting Garden Café was there unless someone told you about it. A friend originally found it on Facebook and we visited some time ago – then, when we discovered that Appleby Dog Park had opened right opposite, it became a bit of a no-brainer for future visits! 🐶☕🌿

Their social media strapline is “worth the short detour” and honestly, it absolutely is. 🌸☕ If you want to see what they're about before you visit, they tend to share most of what's going on over on Instagram, so it's worth giving them a follow.

The Cutting Garden is a café, bakery and somewhere you can buy fresh-cut flowers. 🌸🥐☕ It's the sort of place that feels like you've stumbled across something you weren't expecting, and then you wonder how you didn't know about it sooner.

And most importantly... there's a dog menu. 🐶❤️ With the all-important puppuchinos, of course! What more could you possibly ask for?

The staff are always so welcoming and genuinely happy to see dogs coming through the door. This isn't just a place that allows dogs – dogs are properly welcomed here. 🐾❤️ There's always a fuss to be had, which is exactly what we like to see.

There is a small amount of seating inside, but as with most places we visit, we much prefer to sit outside. 🌳☀️ There are a few tables directly outside the café, but if you cross over the car park, you'll find picnic tables and deck chairs, with a mixture of sunny and shaded spots depending on what you fancy. After our dog park visit this morning, and with the heatwave on its way, we definitely opted for the shade! 🥵🌳🐾 A cold drink, a puppuchino and a shady spot was exactly what we needed before heading home. ☕🐶💚

And don't be put off by the fact that it's on a business park or that there's a car park between the café and the outdoor seating. 🚗 I know it doesn't sound like the setting for a picturesque café stop, but honestly, once you're there, it really doesn't feel like that at all. It's relaxed, surrounded by people enjoying the outdoors and has a lovely little community feel to it.

It's a popular stop for dog walkers, cyclists, walkers and motorcyclists, so there's always something going on. 🚲🐕🏍️ And with Appleby Dog Park literally on its doorstep, it's become one of our favourite combinations.

We'll often book a run around Appleby Dog Park – the dogs running, not us! 😂🐶💨 – and then head over to The Cutting Garden for a nice hot chocolate and, of course, a puppuchino. ☕🐾

And according to Poppy, it's firmly in her top three places for puppuchinos... which is a very serious accolade considering the number of puppuchinos she has sampled in her time. 😂☕🐶

If secure dog parks aren't your thing, there are also plenty of countryside walks around the local area, so you can easily combine a walk with a café stop without ever setting foot in a dog field.

For us, though, The Cutting Garden is one of those places that has become part of the routine. Easy to pair with a dog park, lovely staff, puppuchinos for the dogs... and I have to say, the cakes are very good too! 🍰🌸☕🐾

It's tucked away, it's a little unexpected and it's absolutely worth the short detour. 💚
