Let's be clear about something: this isn't a cafe that tolerates dogs. This is a dog cafe that happens to allow humans in.

Murphy was greeted on arrival by a welcome committee of other dogs, all of whom seemed very invested in helping him finish his puppachino. Which, by the way, might be the best one in Leicestershire — it comes with sausages AND dog biscuits, and Murphy took his quality assessment role extremely seriously 🐶

Dogs are allowed on all the furniture (there are actual dog sofas), the place is air-conditioned (perfect for heatwave days when you need somewhere cool to regroup), there’s a huge selection of toys available to buy and there's a full dog menu plus natural treats available over the counter.

The humans are also well looked after — large selection of hot and cold drinks, fantastic cakes and pastries, sweet and savoury options. I had a slice of Bakewell tart that I'm still thinking about.

It's about 5 minutes from Swithland Woods North car park, but here's the thing: this is the kind of place you visit first and then plan where to walk after. The cafe IS the destination.

Murphy left with a slightly sticky face, several new friends, and the kind of satisfied expression that told me we'd be back very soon 🧡
