## About
We reviewed Murphy's Coachi long line in a previous Kit Edit, but we also use a 10-meter waterproof version from Total Pet — and it's earned its place in the regular rotation.

It's been especially useful for late evening walks during warmer weather, particularly around water. Murphy's recall is what we'd diplomatically describe as "a work in progress," so having a long line that doesn't absorb half the lake and then drip mud through the boot of the car has been genuinely helpful.

The waterproof material means it wipes clean easily and doesn't develop that damp-rope smell that standard long lines seem to acquire approximately 20 minutes after purchase. It's also noticeably sturdy — Murphy has tested this theory extensively and it's held up well.

One feature we’ve really appreciated is the padded sliding handle. It moves freely along the lead, so we can grab it wherever Murphy is without yanking him or burning your hands if he suddenly changes direction. It gives you a lot more control while still allowing your dog to move naturally.

One thing worth knowing: because of the waterproof material, it does catch on things more than a fabric line would. Tree roots, particularly. If you're walking through woodland with lots of ground debris, you'll find yourself stopping to unhook it fairly regularly. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's the trade-off for having a line that actually stays clean.

For water-based walks, evening adventures, or anywhere Murphy's enthusiasm significantly outpaces his listening skills, it's been a solid investment. Just maybe avoid the gnarliest woodland routes if you want to keep momentum going.

## Murphy's Verdict
*Reviewed by Murphy, Cavapoo and chief sniff tester at Murphy & Me — The Dog Edit*
> "This is the long line that lets me investigate extremely important lake edges while Mum pretends she's still in control of the situation. It doesn't go soggy, it doesn't smell weird, and it gives me just enough range to consider whether that duck really needs chasing (Mum says no, I say the jury's still out). The only downside is it has a personal vendetta against tree roots and will absolutely stop mid-adventure to have a dispute with one. Still, 10/10 for freedom with supervision. 🐾"
## Highlights
- Waterproof material wipes clean and doesn't retain that damp-dog-walk smell
- Genuinely sturdy — holds up well to enthusiastic pulling and sudden directional changes
- Great for water-based walks and late evening adventures when recall is unreliable
- Available in multiple lengths (5m, 10m, 15m, 20m, 30m)
- Does snag on tree roots and ground debris more than fabric lines — worth noting for woodland walks
