Leicester Sighthounds Fun Dog Show is exactly what it sounds like — a properly fun afternoon of daft, brilliant classes for a good cause, held at The Gate Hangs Well on the Fosse Way in Syston.

Don't let the name put you off if you don't own a greyhound or a whippet — this one's open to all breeds, all shapes, all levels of 'trained'. Classes start from 11:30am and run at £2 each, paid in the ring on the day, with categories covering everything from Handsome Boy and Prettiest Girl through to Sweetest Puppy, Best Veteran (9 years+), Best Rescue, Junior Handler, and — genuinely our favourite on the list — Best Sausage Catcher. There's Fancy Dress if you're feeling brave, and it all builds to Best in Show.

Rosettes go to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in every class, and all proceeds support Leicester Sighthounds, so it's a nice one to put in the diary even before you've decided which class to enter. With this many classes and dogs of every size milling about a pub garden, expect it to be a sociable, lively sort of afternoon rather than a quiet one — worth bearing that in mind if your dog needs a bit of space from the crowd.
