Who we are
Murphy & Me (The Dog Edit) is a dog-friendly location guide covering the Midlands, run by Greg and Candice — and Murphy the Cavapoo, obviously.
If you have any questions about how we handle your data, email us at hello@murphyandme.co.uk.
What data we collect
We only collect data you choose to give us, plus basic analytics on how people use the site.
- Newsletter signup — your email address, collected when you subscribe to The Murphy Memo.
- Submit a listing — your name, email, dog's name, location details and any photos you upload.
- Analytics — anonymous usage data via Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (pages visited, time on site, device type, anonymised click/scroll patterns). No personal details, and only collected if you accept cookies.
We don't collect payment details, we don't run ads, and we don't sell your data. Ever.
Why we collect it
- Email addresses — to send you The Murphy Memo newsletter. That's it.
- Submission details — to review and potentially publish your listing on the site, and to contact you if we have questions about it.
- Analytics — to understand how people use the site so we can make it better.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to run the site:
- Netlify — hosts the site. Like any web host, basic server logs (including IP address) are processed as a normal part of serving the site to you. Their privacy policy →
- Kit (ConvertKit) — manages our newsletter list and sends emails. Their privacy policy →
- Airtable — stores listing submissions securely. Their privacy policy →
- ZeptoMail — sends transactional emails (submission confirmations). Their privacy policy →
- Google Analytics — anonymous site analytics, only if you accept cookies. Their privacy policy →
- Google Search Console & Bing Webmaster Tools — anonymous search performance data. Microsoft privacy policy →
- Cloudinary — stores listing photos. Their privacy policy →
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymous heatmaps and session recordings to help us understand how people use the site, only if you accept cookies. No personal data is captured. Microsoft privacy policy →
We don't share your data with anyone else.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Submission details — kept as long as the listing is live on the site. If a listing is removed, associated personal data is deleted within 30 days.
- Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics for 14 months by default.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- See what personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data
- Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time
- Object to how we use your data
Cookies
When you first visit, you'll see a banner offering a genuine choice: Accept all or Reject all. Nothing beyond what's strictly needed to run the site loads until you choose.
If you accept, we use cookies for Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — both anonymous, both just to help us understand how people use the site. No advertising cookies, no tracking across other websites.
If you reject, neither of those loads at all, and the site works exactly the same either way.
You can change your mind at any time via the Cookie preferences link in the footer, or by clearing cookies/site data in your browser.
Changes to this policy
If we make any significant changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and note the date below. We won't email you about minor updates.
