# Hero Edition - Orla

## About
At just four years old, this gorgeous Goldendoodle has donated blood 19 times through Pet Blood Bank UK, helping to save the lives of an astonishing 76 dogs.

Orla's blood donation journey began when she was just six months old. While visiting Crufts, her family picked up a leaflet from Pet Blood Bank UK and discovered something many dog owners don't realise exists — dogs can become blood donors too.

When Orla turned one, they took her to a donation session in Lichfield where she made her very first donation before eventually becoming an ambassador for Pet Blood Bank UK, helping to raise awareness across the country.

Orla's human, Paul, said she's incredibly laid back when she donates. She loves the treats and enjoys all the fuss that comes as part of the package.

In fact, she's even been known to fall asleep and snore while donating blood 😂🐾 Apparently saving lives can be exhausting!

As remarkable as her blood donation story is, that's only part of what makes Orla special.

She is also a Pets As Therapy dog and visits two schools every week. Through the Read2Dogs scheme, she helps children build confidence with reading and supports children with special educational needs.

Orla has appeared at Crufts, DogFest and Chatsworth House, featured on BBC One, The Gaby Roslin Show, local radio and in numerous newspapers.

She has completed 40 walking challenges for 40 different charities, won the BBC Make A Difference Award in the Animal category, been named Best Dog by Noel Fitzpatrick, The Supervet, and is currently a finalist in the Animal Star Awards.

Not bad for a dog whose favourite pastime still involves collecting treats and enjoying a nap.

When she's not busy changing lives, Orla enjoys everything you'd expect from a much-loved family dog. She's affectionate, gentle and happiest spending time with the people she loves.

Orla is an ordinary dog who has quietly gone on to make an extraordinary difference.

At Murphy & Me, we're usually talking about walks, cafés, pubs and adventures.

But every now and then a story comes along that feels bigger than that.

If sharing Orla's story through Murphy & Me helps inspire even one new donor, that would be a really special thing.

Because somewhere, another dog might get the chance of more time with the people who love them.

And that's worth barking about.
