Murphy isn’t exactly known for his calm energy, so sitting patiently while somebody bathes, brushes and trims him has never featured particularly highly on his agenda. Rhea has endless patience with him though, there are plenty of treats involved, and somehow she sends him home looking like a fine gentleman ready to mingle with high society.

The transformation can be quite remarkable.

But what we value about Rhea goes beyond Murphy coming home looking considerably more respectable than when he arrived.

When he had problems with his ears, she took genuine care over how she groomed around them, talked us through what she was seeing and gave us useful advice to help prevent things getting worse. She’s not a vet — and would never claim to be — but she clearly knows dogs and pays attention to the one in front of her.

There are thoughtful little touches too. Rhea offers complimentary nail trims between grooming appointments, which is particularly useful when those claws start getting ahead of the rest of him.

Booking is refreshingly straightforward. Rhea is responsive to messages and flexible with appointments, and payment is handled through a simple text or email link.

It’s all those practical details, combined with how patient and attentive Rhea is with Murphy, that make the whole experience easy.

And considering the state we sometimes deliver him in, what comes home feels nothing short of a minor miracle.
